Fundraising Show A Great Success

MASON, Oh, May 24, 2008 - Thanks to the support from all participating sponsor organizations and volunteers, the fundraising show featuring Anhui Art Troup was a great success. The show was held at the theatre of Mason High School. About 700 tri-state residents came to watch the show. Local artists, UC students, and volunteer parents from the two local Chinese schools kicked off the show with choir singing, Pipa, dances and Jinghu, followed by a series of singing, dances, operas and instrument performances by the Anhui Art Troup.

Mr. Jay Shi, Principal of Greater Cincinnati Chinese School and member of Sichuan Friendship Association, and Mr. Hua Hu, Chairperson of Greater Cincinnati China Relief Committee, delivered the opening remarks followed by a call for silent condolences. The audience and the artists stood in silence for 3 minutes to remember those who died in the Sichuan earthquake. According to the latest figures, as many as 60,000 people died in the earthquake, 27,000 people reported missing and as many as 5 million people remain displaced.
Local residents and businesses poured out their support by donating to the China Relief Fund at the show.
A series of fundraising activities will follow as the tri-state communities continue to gain awareness of the magnitude of the impact the earthquake has brought to the people of Sichuan. Please visit our website often to check for the latest activities schedule.
